Dr. Maureen McMahon

Deputy Superintendent for Academics & Strategic Initiatives in Anne Arundel County Public Schools in the State of Maryland

Dr. McMahon’s career has included a focus on student-centered interdisciplinary teaching and learning, the meaningful infusion of technologies into the STEM learning environment, online and blended learning, and cross-disciplinary teacher preparation.


Former tenure-track Professor and Department Chair positions at the University of California, Davis and California State University, Long Beach

Former Board of Directors of the National Science Teachers Association and the National Association for Research in Science Teaching

She is currently a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), American Education Research Association (AERA), American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Fort Meade Alliance and the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.

Dr. McMahon earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry from the University of Maryland College Park and Villanova University, respectively. After several years of successful high school science teaching, she went on to earn her Doctorate in Science Education from the University of Maryland College Park.
